Dionysia Adamopoulou
An incomplete and ongoing attempt to understand a self continuously shaped by absence, vulnerability and reconstruction.
My work departs from the female body — present in some pieces, dissolved in others. Moving between painting, mixed media and monotype, materials are chosen for how they absorb, tear and resist. Forms are cut and reassembled not to restore, but to record dissolution.
Loss runs through the work, held in damaged surfaces, fragile materials and the traces left behind through care, emotional pressure and transformation. The body appears both vulnerable and resistant, carrying experiences that are often kept inside or left unseen.
What emerges shows two things at once: the attempt to hold, and the recognition that something has already changed or disappeared. Through fragmentation, repetition and fragile materials, the work reflects on the instability of identity and the silent ways the body stores memory and experience.
Dionysia Adamopoulou (b. 1993) is a visual artist based in Athens, Greece. She is currently studying at the Athens School of Fine Arts under the guidance of Professor Xagoraris and holds a degree from the Athens University of Economics and Business.
In 2024 she published her first poetry collection, “Shades of Motherhood” (Τα Χρώματα της Μητρότητας), exploring themes of maternal identity and transformation. Her work has been presented in exhibitions in Greece and abroad and is held in private collections and the public collections of Lamia Hospital and FES Kantza. She is a member of the visual art associations “Μεσογαία” and “ΣΚΕΤΚΕ”.
